Includes hand drawn diagrams and mounted fabric samples.; Book I: Fundamentals of costume design -- Book II: Abridged history of costume -- Book III: Suitability of dress, designing of costumes.; Written while the author was a teacher in the Boston Public Schools, this unpublished manuscript was intended for publication and use as a textbook for women who aspired to be dress designers. A manual of dress design and a history of fashion from the Egyptian era to 1955, it includes pen and ink drawings and textile samples. While there was some publisher interest in advance, by the time the manuscript was complete, the market for trade school publications had diminished.
